Tim Ennis Interview

Page 2:

What was your street act in the late 1970s?

Randy Dunagan and I had a comedy act in the mid- and late-seventies that we ended up performing a lot on Fisherman’s Wharf. We worked at the ferry boat turn-around, Ghirardelli Square, The Cannery, Pier 39, The Anchorage, etc. It was a vaudeville/commedia del arte kind of thing with fake mind reading, a ventriloquist act called "Professor X and His Mystery Dummy" (guess who was the mystery dummy), chain and rope escapes, prop comedy, fake fights, juggling of fire, swords, rubber chickens, etc. Anything to keep the attention of a large crowd while telling hideous groaner jokes with great gusto.

We would perform 10 - 12 half-hour shows a day, four or five days a week. We thought we were making good money at the time, but looking back on it, I believe we were also working extremely hard...
